The Suns boast an excellent record so far this season and are one of the pace-setters in the Western Conference along with the Golden State Warriors and Utah Jazz. This past weekend they crushed the New York Knicks 118-97 to further extend their winning streak.

“You know it's a long season," Suns coach Monty Williams said. "You understand that every NBA team can give you trouble. For me, I can't look to Golden State. I am thinking about tomorrow. But I am sure the guys do that and you naturally do it and then you focus on the next right thing that you have to do. There is so much parity in the league right now, that you can't walk into a game and say, ‘I got this.' You're going to get clipped.”
The Pistons, by contrast, are languishing in the lower reaches of the Eastern Conference and this past weekend saw them suffer a 107-96 loss away to the Los Angeles Clippers.
"We don't have the luxury of being a young team and having trouble scoring to come in and not play desperate to start the game," Pistons coach Dwane Casey said. "That was the message at halftime. We just weren't competing at the level you need to compete to be a playoff team like the Clippers. And once we decided to do that, we did."
In head-to-head stats, the Suns and the Pistons have met in 139 Regular Season games since 1968-69, with Detroit claiming 71 wins compared to 68 for Phoenix. The teams’ last Regular Season meeting was in February 2021, with the Suns winning 109-92 at home thanks to 23 and 20 points from Devin Booker and Chris Paul respectively.
