As the reigning PGA Tour Baycurrent Classic champion, United States golfer Xander Schauffele will be among the top contenders at the Yokohama Country Club this week as he looks to win the showpiece for the second year running.
Currently ranked 10th in the world, Schauffele will be one to watch in Japan later this week following a string of top 10 finishes this year.
Yet to win a tournament in 2026, Schauffele’s best showing this year came at the Rocket Classic where he finished in second position behind Michael Thorbjornsen at the Detroit Golf Club in August
Prior to the Rocket Classic, Schauffele finished third at the Players’ Championship, including T7 at the PGA Championship and also, T9 at the popular Masters Tournament.
The 32-year-old last tasted victory at the 2025 Baycurrent Classic, where he finished with a total of -19 ahead of second-placed Max Greyserman and Thorbjornsen, who came in at third.
Schauffele’s most recent outing came at the Tour Championship where he ended the showpiece in T14 at East Lake at the end of August.
Before the Tour Championship, Schauffele battled at the BMW Championship where he could only manage a T26 placing amid a troublesome year overall.
