A clash between New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox will headline Major League Baseball (MLB) action between 14-20 August.

The Yankees–Red Sox rivalry is one of the oldest, most famous, and fiercest rivalries in professional sports.

The two former World Series champions will meet four times at the Yankee Stadium during this period.

Yankees are sitting at the top of the American League East standings with 10 wins, while an inconsistent Red Sox side is placed fourth on the table with six wins.

Record 27-time World Serie champions Yankees will then play host to Tampa Bay Rays on August 20.

Bay Rays are currently placed second on the standings having registered eight victories thus far and they will be hoping to stun the Yankees.

Aaron Bonne, the Yankees coach, commented on his side's schedule which has recently been shaken up due to the COVID-19 outbreak in the Marlins organization.

“We are fortunate enough to have a group that is very focused. So I feel like, from a focus standpoint, we’re ready," Bonne said.

“I think of it more as your heart goes out to the individual players and that you hope your guys are able to turn it around and get back on the field.

"We always try to be prepared for adversity and we knew going into this we were going to have to prepare for some uncomfortable situations," he added.

“It’s one of those things that’s going to be critical if you are going to be able to have success on the field this year.”
