Hideki Matsuyama will be a clear crowd favourite when he returns to the
Baycurrent Classic on home soil in the third event of the FedExCup Fall on Thursday, October 9.
The Japan native is one of three former champions competing in Yokohama, having beaten Brendan Steele and Cameron Tringale by five strokes in 2021 to claim his seventh PGA Tour win.
Matsuyama has expanded his number of victories to 11, most recently adding the Sentry to his list of accolades at the start of this year.
But the 33-year-old wasn't able to build on that strong start after failing to finish in the top 10 since then, with his best placing of T13 coming at the Genesis Invitational, the Rocket Classic and the BMW PGA Championship.
Matsuyama, who will also participate in the final DP World Tour event of the season at the Genesis Championship at the end of October, is hoping for more success before the year draws to a close.
"I feel like my game is in good shape and I'm looking forward to ending 2025 on a positive note," he said.
