World No. 34 Akshay Bhatia headlines the field for the
Sanderson Farms Championship as the second event of the FedEx Cup Fall gets underway on Thursday, October 2.
The American is the highest ranked of the three players inside the OGWR top 50 who are set to tee off at the Country Club of Jackson.
Bhatia has two PGA Tour wins under his belt, adding the 2024 Valero Texas Open title to his maiden triumph at the Barracuda Championship one year earlier.
The 23-year-old, who turned professional in 2019, has achieved four top-10 finishes this season, with his best result of T3 coming at the Players Championship.
Bhatia carded a 6-under 277 to finish 13 strokes behind winner Scottie Scheffler in T11 at the recent Procore Championship and he's trying to focus more on just enjoying the game instead of letting it rule his life.
"I think this game can consume your life, your happiness, and so I'm just trying to figure out ways to change that because I feel like I don't really want to live my life based off of an unstable game," he said.
"That's going to drive me nuts. This whole year it has, so I'm just trying to be just a little more at ease with whatever I shoot.
"I felt like at 3M I did a nice job for three days, and then Sunday was - I sat in my hotel room furious. It's hard because I want to perform the way I know I can, and this year again hasn't been the easiest.
"But I'm just trying to enjoy what I have and be grateful for what I get to do for a living."
