Betway Ambassador Mike de Kock and Mathew de Kock are enjoying a super 2025/6 season, having saddled 21 winners in the first nine weeks of the term. Their winning strike rate is 23%, the highest in the country.
Having moved into the Top 3 on the National Log, The M&M team hopes to add to their tally this weekend, with runners at
Turffontein and Hollywoodbets Greyville.
Mat’s comments are below:
Turffontein inside track, Saturday 11 October:
Race 2, 1450m: “Gonna Catch You has been gelded, he will also be fitted with blinkers and a tongue tie. His work has improved, so we are looking for a better run than his debut, when he just took no interest and didn’t put in any kind of effort.”
Race 3, 1800m: “Green Machine made a respectable 1450m debut behind One Eye On Vegas. He will appreciate the step up to 1800m and certainly has a good eachway chance.”
Race 8, 1200m: “Roaming Spirit won her comeback run over 1000m well, despite it being short of her best, and she’s improved. She’s quite well weighted here, we’re confident she’ll run well. Include her in all bets.”
Race 9, 1200m: “Beamonesque takes a big drop in class, but he hasn’t won for some time and has been frustrating. He carries 63kg, which is relative to the rest of the field – they’re also up on the weight scale. Hopefully his low draw makes up for the weight he is carrying. He’ll be in a nice spot and should give a good account of himself.”
Hollywoodbets Greyville, Sunday 12 October:
Race 1, 1200m: “A newcomer here –
Strutting, by Rafeef. She’s quite temperamental and we’ve put Siyanda Sosibo on her as he rides a lot of track work at Summerveld. Being by Hawwaam, you would imagine she needs a bit further. Should run a fair race, but let’s watch and see how she goes.”
Race 2, 1600m: “If it wasn’t for his bad draw, we would have been confident of winning this with
Cheerscheerscheers. But he has drawn in the car park, which is detrimental to his chances. He’ll need a bit of luck, we’ve put blinkers on to help him concentrate as he is still looks around in races.”
Race 3, 1600m: “Greenhouse is an honest filly, always tries her best, but she needs a plum draw to get her over the line. She doesn’t have a great draw, so Muzi Yeni will hopefully get some luck in running that she needs. Place chance.”
Race 6, 1400m: “Bristol Hercules found the 2000m too far last time. We’re dropping him right back in trip. He works very well at home, we’re hoping the switch back in distance can bring the best out of him.
Whispering Death is a very promising young horse from last season. He has been gelded and rested. The 1400m is on the sharp side, but he’s got a bit of class about him and we’re still expecting him to show us something. We’re looking forward to him stepping out, because he is one of our feature race contenders this season.”
Race 8, 1900m: “Corrupt is a good, honest horse. He comes back in trip as we’re using this as a stepping stone into the Java Handicap. But he’s not without a chance, he’s a nice, strong galloper with a good draw and a low weight so should be included even though he’ll be best beyond 2000m going forward.
Officer In Command is in good form. He seems to be pretty competitive over a mile, a throw of the dice over 1900m but hopefully he can surprise us.”
Race 9, 1600m: “Buddy Boy was very impressive when raced over 1600m last time, but he was whacked by the handicapper. It will be interesting to see how he goes off his high rating. He has a nice, soft draw and will be there for free, hopefully he is good enough to win. We are happy with him.
Cold Shine has been a head-scratcher for us as he doesn’t reproduce his good work at home, on the racetrack. Stepping him up in trip and hoping for a better run.”
Race 10, 1600m: “
Gotta Go Eddie is in good form and tries his best. He should be a big runner on the day from his inside draw.”
