What to know about the Thailand MotoGP

Established in 2018, this race is hosted at Buriram International Circuit near the eponymous city in Buriram Province.

In 2020 and 2021, the event was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The race is due to take place at the Buriram International Circuit until at least 2026.

Most recent race

The Australian MotoGP which was the 16th round of the 2023 MotoGP World Championship season took place on 22 October.

The race was won by Ducati rider Johann Zarco while his teammates Francesco Bagnaia and Fabio Di Giannantonio finished second and third respectively.

Standings

Bagnaia remains at the top of riders' standings followed by his Ducati teammates Jorge Martin and Marco Bezzecchi, and KTM rider Brad Binder respectively.

Looking at the constructors' standings, Ducati, who have won the 2023 title, are sitting at the top - followed by KTM and Aprilia respectively.

Quotes

“Yes, possibly yes, because as I said before everyone loves Phillip Island,” Zarco, who is now placed fifth on the riders' standings, said when asked if his first win coming in Australia made it better in some way on MotorSport.

“So, if you can win there you feel you are part of ‘the big one’. We could do it overall in 2017, it was huge [group battle], and this one was different because Jorge went away and could do this race alone.

“Finally in the end he was there and we had these overtakes in this big group to finish. It’s anyway amazing to win, but with a little plus.”
