Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc will look for home comforts when the eighth round of the 2025 Formula 1 World Championship, the Monaco Grand Prix, is held at the Circuit de Monaco on the afternoon of Sunday 25 May.

Leclerc, and Ferrari in general, have endured a tough season this far. The Monegasque driver has had just one podium – a third place finish at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix last month – and never looked in the running for a race win.

That form continued this past weekend at the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, a home race for Ferrari, as Leclerc could only come in sixth place. That result actually represented a great drive from the 27-year-old, who started in P11.

However, he admits to being frustrated at having to fight to make up for Ferrari’s lack of pace, especially relative to the McLaren-Mercedes cars.

“I was saying before, it's one of the races where you've got to race with the heart and put the elbows out a little bit,” Leclerc explained. "When it's like this you go very much on the limit, sometimes a little bit over. But when you are starting P11, as a driver I cannot accept the situation we are in.”

The Ferrari pilot finds himself fifth in the Drivers’ Championship standings with 61 points – way off the pace set by leader Oscar Piastri of McLaren-Mercedes, who has 146 points to his name.

The good news for Leclerc and Ferrari is that the slower, more technical Monaco circuit will be a much better match for the strengths of the Ferrari.

This was fully demonstrated in last year’s Monaco GP, where Leclerc claimed pole position and ultimately went on to win the race, becoming the first Monégasque driver to triumph in 93 years.
