After managing just two victories in 12 games leading up to the Christmas break, Maritzburg United have returned to action following the festive period in scintillating style with convincing wins over Ajax Cape Town and Bloemfontein Celtic respectively. After a solid start to the season that included defeating Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN8 quarter-final as well as going unbeaten for the first four games of the season, Fadlu Davids men then fell off the pace somewhat.

Supersport United will have to deal with the sale of star striker Jeremy Brockie to local rivals Mamelodi Sundowns as they prepare for the tough trip south to Maritzburg. Matsatsantsa have struggled to string results together and come into this fixture off the back of consecutive losses to Bidvest Wits and Golden Arrows in January which leaves The Trend Setters with just one win in their last nine games since defeat to TP Mazembe in the final of the CAF Confederations Cup.

In 20 league matches involving the pair there have only been three 0-0 stalemates so fans can surely expect no shortage of goals.
