While Collin Morikawa’s gloves came off at the recent Travelers Championship in Connecticut, the American golfer will hope to do better at the upcoming Rocket Classic later this month.
What to know about Collin Morikawa
Morikawa will head into the Rocket Classic on the back of a 42nd placing at the recently concluded Travelers Championship where he bagged a total of $76 000 in the process.
The 4th ranked star currently has six PGA Tour wins to his name, which includes two major championships won at the first time of asking. After claiming the 2020 PGA Championship and also the 2021 Open Championship, the 28-year-old swiftly made a name for himself among the best players in the United States.
More recently, Morikawa went all the way at the Zozo Championship in October 2023 and is yet to win silverware since then.
What did he say
Amid his showing at the Travelers championship, Morikawa explained why he played without a glove on the course.
"Look, when it comes down to it, our hands are what makes us such good athletes and such good golfers is that we have so much feel," Morikawa said.
"For some reason when I've taken the glove off this week, it's kind of worked. It's just—problem is it's really hot and it's sweaty.
