Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne is hoping to make an "incredible season even better" when they face Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League final at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium on Saturday, June 10.

The Citizens have a historic treble in their sights after retaining the Premier League title and lifting the FA Cup following a 2-1 victory over neighbours Manchester United in the final last Saturday.

Pep Guardiola's side have dominated the scene in England, winning 13 trophies since the Spaniard succeeded Manuel Pellegrini at the helm in the 2016 off-season.

However, Europe's biggest club prize has so far eluded them, with City falling at the final hurdle in 2021 when they were beaten 1-0 by Chelsea in Porto, Portugal.

They were eliminated by Real Madrid in the semi-finals last term but got their revenge this season by dispatching the defending champions 5-1 on aggregate at the same stage to set up a first-ever competitive meeting with Inter.

De Bruyne played a starring role against Los Blancos, scoring in the first leg to earn a 1-1 draw at the Bernabeu before turning provider for Bernardo Silva and Manuel Akanji in the second leg as the hosts ran out comprehensive 4-0 victors at the Etihad Stadium.

The Belgium international, who leads the competition for assists with seven, is optimistic of signing off 2022-23 by finally getting his hands on the coveted European Cup.

"I don't feel like there's any pressure," the Belgium international said when asked about the prospect of securing the treble.

"We've had a great season already and I think we're going to try and be as ready as best we can be and we'll go to Istanbul and play another great game. It's been an incredible season and hopefully we can make it even better."

City have only ever encountered the Nerazzurri in pre-season friendlies, winning for the first time by a 3-0 scoreline in 2011 after being beaten twice (also 3-0) the previous year.
