Francesco Bagnaia of Ducati won the 2022 Italian Grand Prix as the Italian rider claimed his second victory of the current campaign.

Yamaha rider Fabio Quartararo finished in Italy second, while Aprilia rider Aleix Espargaro secured the third spot in what was the eighth race of the season.

Therefore, Quartararo remains at the top of the 2022 riders' standings with 122 points heading into an eagerly-anticipated Catalan MotoGP.

Espargaro and Enea Bastianini of Ducati are placed second and third with 114 points and 94 points respectively as they battle to catch Quartararo.

Ducati's Johann Zarco, who is now placed fifth on the riders' standings with 75 points - six behind fourth-placed Bagnaia, was happy to have finished fourth at the Italian MotoGP.

“In the first laps, it's not easy. Everyone is going to get an opportunity and some are better at it than others," Zarco said.

"But I was still there and I'm also satisfied with the pace of the race which allowed me to get back in the front group. Aleix (Espargaro) and Fabio (Quartararo) started to open a gap and behind I blocked (Marco) Bezzecchi.

"I spent a lot of energy until the last lap, where I was able to surprise him. The fourth position is still beautiful."

Ducati are placed at the top of the Manufacturers' Championship standings and they are followed by Yamaha and Aprilia respectively.
