World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz will look to continue challenging the established order in his pursuit of a second Grand Slam at the 2023 Wimbledon Championships.
The Spaniard has made a remarkable rise on the pro circuit since breaking into the top 100 in May 2021, winning the US Open the following year to become the youngest male to top the singles rankings at 19 years, four months and six days.
Alcaraz has gone on to win five ATP Tour titles this year since missing the Australian Open with a hamstring injury, the most recent one coming at the Queen's Club Championship which was his first success on grass.
The 20-year-old was considered one of the favourites at the 2023 French Open and he reached the semi-finals for the first time before falling to eventual champion Novak Djokovic in four sets.
His performance at Queen's has given Alcaraz new-found confidence on the London grass and he easily dispatched Jeremy Chardy 6-0, 6-2, 7-5 in the first round to set up a meeting with Alexandre Muller.
"My expectations are high. Winning Queen's, I feel great playing at such a level. The confidence grew up a lot, thinking that I'm able to do good results here," he said.
"I think I will be able to put the pressure on the other players - even Djokovic. All I can say is I feel a lot of confidence and ready to do good things here."
