2022 Hungarian Grand Prix

Sunday, 31 July 2022

The 2022 Hungarian Grand Prix is scheduled to take place in Mogyoród which is a small traditional village in Pest County, Hungary on July 31.

This will be the 13th round of the 2022 FIA Formula One World Championship season and it will be held at the Hungaroring which has been the home of the Hungarian Grand Prix since 1986.

The first Hungarian Grand Prix was held on 21 June 1936 in Népliget, Budapest. However, politics and the ensuing war meant the end of Grand Prix motor racing in the country for fifty years.

The most recent race in the 2022 FIA Formula One World Championship season was the France Grand Prix which was won by Max Verstappen on July 24.

However, Verstappen remains at the top of the 2022 Drivers' Championship standings having accumulated 233 points as he looks to successfully defend his Formula One world title.

Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc (170 points) and Red Bull Racing-RBPT driver Sergio Perez (163 points) are placed second and third respectively in the standings with 10 races left in the current season.

While Ferrari's Carlos Sainz Jr (144 points), Russell (143 points) and Hamilton (127 points) are placed fourth, fifth and sixth respectively in the standings.

"We’re making a lot of progress and we really need to improve our qualifying performance as we’re lacking consistency. We know as a team we struggle with the tyre warm-up and at the restart, I struggled with the same issue," Russell said after the French GP.

"Our race pace today was reasonable and we’re getting closer to the front. We’re doing everything we can to improve the performance of the car and we believe we are on the right path, so we’re excited about what the next races can bring for us.

"We’re making progress and there is still more to come, thanks to everyone back at the factories in Brackley and Brixworth for their hard work and dedication."

Red Bull Racing-RBPT are placed at the top of the Constructors' Championship standings and they are followed by Ferrari and Mercedes respectively.
