Matchday 19
Kaizer Chiefs vs Orlando Pirates
FNB Stadium
Johannesburg, South Africa
Saturday, 28 February 2026
Kick-off is at 15:30
All roads will lead to the FNB Stadium this weekend as Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates gather for yet another epic Soweto Derby showdown in the Betway Premiership at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.
The Soweto giants enjoyed a relatively fruitful campaign in the Betway Premiership this season, with Chiefs occupying fourth position after 16 matches, while Orlando Pirates are second on the log after 17 games played.
Amakhosi are considered outside contenders for the league title, given their eight-point gap to log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns with a game in hand. Pirates on the other hand, share the same number of points as the Brazilians (38) as they stage their strongest bid for the league trophy in years.
The Glamour boys will head into the weekend’s game on the back of a 2-1 loss against Stellenbosch FC, while the Sea Robbers suffered a 2-1 defeat against Mamelodi Sundowns last time out.
Both wounded, Chiefs recorded two wins, two draws and one loss in their last five league matches while Pirates recorded three wins, one draw and one defeat in the same number of fixtures.

With the Soweto Derby in mind, Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou urged his side treat each game as cup finals with the Buccaneers aiming to win their first league title since the 2011/12 season.
"What I will tell them is that we still have 13 finals coming. Nothing is lost about the title race,” Ouaddou said.
"We are going to find some results like that. It is very important that I don’t hide to you that it (has been) a tough week after losing two games.
"I think it is the second time that it has happened to us if I count the first part of the season. So, we have to find results like we did at the beginning of the season when we bounced back and won 11 games in a row. It is what we have to do now.”
After expressing his apologies to the Chiefs fans following their loss against Stellies, Amakhosi co-coach Khalil Ben Youssef believes that his side needs to be mentality prepared for the upcoming tie.
“It’s part of our job when we are in bad situations like that to continue to work and do a lot of mental work for players to prepare them for the derby,” Ben Youssef said.
“I think every derby has its reality and depending on the results of the team that we have under reality, we hope we will be able to be ready to win this game.”
