2023/24 English Premier League
Matchday 15

Luton Town v Arsenal

Kenilworth Road
Luton, England
Tuesday, 5 December 2023
Kick-off is at 21h30

Arsenal will look to keep the momentum going when they travel to Kenilworth Road for the first time in the Premier League to face Luton on Tuesday, December 5.

The Gunners beat Wolves 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium on December 2 to maintain their two-point lead at the top of the table after making it three wins on the spin in the league.

Liverpool stayed in touch with Mikel Arteta's side courtesy of a 4-3 victory over Fulham at Anfield on December 3 which took them a point above Manchester City up to second place.

The Citizens dropped points for the third game in succession after being held to a 3-3 draw by Tottenham at the Etihad Stadium, while Aston Villa (4th) missed out on the chance to leapfrog the Citizens into third spot with a 2-2 stalemate at Bournemouth.

The Hatters were beaten 3-1 by Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium to remain in danger in 17th position after wins for Everton (18th) and Burnley (19th) saw them close the gap to safety to just two points.

None of the other seven teams in the bottom half of the standings managed to win, which has given Rob Edwards' side hope going into the busy festive fixtures.

Jacob Brown will be pushing for his first start in four matches after stepping off the bench to score in back-to-back outings against Crystal Palace and the Bees. The Scottish striker made the starting line-up on seven consecutive occasions without scoring before dropping back to the substitute's bench and he'll be eager to test David Raya and company.

Bukayo Saka starred in the win over Wanderers, having opened the scoring after just six minutes following good link-up play with Gabriel Jesus and Takehiro Tomiyasu before spotting the run of Gabriel Martinelli and feeding the Brazilian, who struck the post. The English winger took his tally for the season to five goals along with six assists in 13 appearances.

Edwards insists his players won't shy away from the challenge ahead of two daunting fixtures against Arsenal and City, but admits they have to defend better than they did in West London.

"We look forward to these games, but we've just challenged the boys now - we want to get something from the games and we'll have to be better defensively," he said.

"But at home, at Kenilworth Road, anything is possible. I know the supporters are going to bring the noise. I know they are going to be looking forward to these games as well. We certainly are.

"We are not going to have any fear, we are going to go into it and try to be brave and to try and get something from the games."

Arteta is pleased with the consistency the Gunners have shown this term and believes they can achieve something special by maintaining those standards.

"Improvements and the consistency, when you play every three days it's very, very tough to do what we've done in the week and we have to maintain that," the Spaniard said.

"There are certainties that we constantly do in games the outcome is going to be really positive for us and the team has to rely on that and the rest is coming."
