Buffon v Ronaldo – Giants Clash In Cardiff

Betting on football is rarely easy. I work in the game and have seen too many results go the way that nobody is expecting, but that’s part of the thrill of putting money down, right?   It’s the fact that, if you’re right, you can brag to your mates about it.

Tell them how you saw it coming and why you felt so strongly about it that you put money on it. Sometimes though, it’s just about that gut feeling isn’t it… I’m putting some money on Juventus this weekend, and not because I think they’re a far superior side, but because I just have an feeling that they’ll snatch it.

Look, I want to see Gigi Buffon lift the Champions League, that’s just a fact, but I also think that there is a lot of quality in this Old Lady side. There’s Buffon who is pushing 40, but there’s also 23-year-old Paulo Dybala, who I think could be a Ballon d’Or winner one day.

They’ve lost their last four CL finals – against Barcelona, AC Milan, Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund – but they’ve got to win one sometime haven’t they! I think they’ll win this repeat of the 1997/98 showpiece, but Ronaldo and Co. will definitely put up one helluva fight.

Always worth putting money on Ronaldo scoring if you fancy it, because he usually does. My money is on Juve with Dybala as an anytime goalscorer. Let’s see what happens! Meanwhile, a little closer to home, I’m also going to be putting some money on Stellenbosch to beat Black Leopards in the PSL promotion playoffs. It’s going to be a tough game away at Leopards, but Stellenbosch fought back well against Baroka this week and I think they can get a result.
