Leading the way at the top of the 2026 MotoGP standings, Aprilia’s Jorge Martin will hope to add to his lone win this season when he takes to MotorLand Aragon this weekend.

As it stands, Martin holds a 31-point lead over teammate Marco Bezzecchi heading into the midway point of the campaign, while he claimed second position at the United Kingdom MotoGP at Silverstone earlier this month.

Apart from taking six podiums this season, Martin’s only win so far came at the French Grand Prix, which happened to be his first main race win since 2024.

Hoping to fend off Bezzecchi for the remainder of the campaign, Martin will now hope to become a two-time MotoGP champion after lifting the crown in 2024.

While Martin rides for Aprilia currently, the Spaniard will join Yamaha in 2027, a decision he stands by despite past criticisms.

Reflecting on his future, the 28-year-old expressed that he made the best decision of his career as he targets title success on the roster.

“I believe that in life you have to make certain decisions,” Martin said.

“In 2024, I had to make a decision in a hurry. Now I’ve had the chance to make another decision more calmly, with more time.

“I’ve always made decisions with what was best for me and my family in mind, and I believe this is the best one.

“Just like when I signed for Aprilia – it was a disaster; where was I going with an Aprilia, a team that had never won – and yet here I am, leading the championship. Next year or in two years’ time, let the world and the public say what they will.”
