Milan, who finished eighth in
Serie A last season, will commence the new 2025/26 campaign against newcomers Cremonese at the iconic San Siro stadium this coming Saturday.
The famous Italian outfit kicked off their domestic campaign with a 2-0 win against Bari in the first round of the Coppa Italia competition last Sunday.
During pre-season, Milan bagged impressive victories against Liverpool and Perth Glory, with the Rossoneri putting nine goals past the latter mentioned outfit on 31 July. Milan were then stopped in their tracks with a 1-1 draw alongside Leeds United, which was followed up by a 4-1 defeat against Chelsea on 10 August.
Cremonese, who was promoted to Serie A after a two-year absence, started their pre-season planning with a 4-1 loss against Torino on 26 July. The new Serie A team then jotted down a 3-0 win against Pro Patria, before firing blanks in a 0-0 stalemate with Reggiana.
Nevertheless, Cremonese will go into their league season opener on the back of a 5-4 penalty defeat to Palermo in the Coppa Italia first round this past Saturday.
Speaking after Milan’s win against Bari, Landucci expressed that the club will assess Rafael Leao’s injury concerns after picking up a knock during the tie.
“In the next few days we’ll assess his injury. It’s not a knock, but a muscle problem,” Landucci said.
The Milan mentor also spoke highly of new recruit Luka Modric, who gave a good account of himself during pre-season.
“At Milanello we found respectable, serious people, like him. He’s given himself completely, at full speed, he doesn’t hold back and doesn’t give up an inch,” Landucci added.
