Francesco Bagnaia will be looking to continue his great form when he competes in the Austrian Grand Prix.

The Ducati rider came close to winning last season's Austrian Grand Prix as he finished second behind race winner Brad Binder of KTM.

Bagnaia is the most in-form rider in the current season having won the last two races namely the Dutch MotoGP on June 26 and British MotoGP on August 7.

Aprilia rider Maverick Viñales and Jack Miller of Ducati finished second and third respectively at the British MotoGP in Silverstone.

Looking at the 2022 riders' standings, Yamaha rider Fabio Quartararo is still at the top of the table with eight races left in the current campaign.

The Frenchman is followed by Aleix Espargaro of Aprilia as the battle for the 2022 MotoGP World Championship continues.

Bagnaia is placed third on the standings -  27 points behind Espargaro and the Italian star will close the gap if he wins the Austrian MotoGP.

“Next one is Austria, I will try to be competitive, I will try to think just of Austria," Bagnaia said after winning the British MotoGP.

“Today was very important to take advantage from the long-lap penalty of Fabio and that was the key,

"Fabio with this long-lap lost time because he started on the medium rear tyre and if he was in the front, in the first position, I think he was opening a gap because today was very competitive."

Ducati are placed at the top of the Constructors' championship standings and they are followed by Yamaha and Aprilia respectively.
