Argentina are out to erase their disappointing run four years ago when they meet Iceland in their opening
2018 FIFA World Cup, Group D match on Saturday, June 14 at Otkrytiye Arena in Miscow.
The Albiceleste failed to live up their expectations in Brazil four years ago when they lost 1-0 in the final to eventual champions, Germany.
Heading to Russia, they will want to rectify their errors and ensure they score goals to take them to the knockout to fight to claim the gold medal.
With stars such as Lionel Messi and Sergio Aguero, the South Americans are favourites once again in Russia, but they will have to show consistency and hunger to dethrone the Germans.
Ahead of the tournament, the two-time world champions defeated Haiti 4-0, lost 6-1 to 2010 champions Spain and beat Italy 2-0.
On the other hand, Our Boys will make their debut appearance at the tournament and will also hope to cause an upset come Saturday.
In their build-up to the tournament, they drew 2-2 against the Black Stars of Ghana, lost 3-2 to Norway as well as registering a 3-1 defeat to Peru.
This will be the first match between the two nations in an international competitive fixture.
