Betway Ambassador Mike de Kock and Mathew de Kock have entered five runners at the next two race meetings at
HWB Greyville, and Mat has filed his runner previews, as below:
HWB Greyville, Sunday 19 October:
Race 2, 1000m: “Bombardier Boy was beaten at short odds last time, but he actually ran a good race and we were happy with him. At the handicap terms of that Open Maiden Plate, he was out at his weight for age level. Back in a set-weights Maiden he should give a good account and has an eachway chance.”
Race 9, 1200m: “Icy Blast is in a good vein of form. He’s doing very well at home and we couldn’t be happier with him. He has strong eachway chance.”
HWB Greyville, Wednesday 22 October:
Race 4, 1400m: “We were impressed with
Spaarne Rivier’s close third on debut, and he’s come on nicely from that run. He should like the extra, has a nice draw and is a big runner here.”
Race 7, 1400m: “Ovation Star was also impressive on her winning debut and she, too, has improved in the short period since then. We’re stepping her up by 200m, not too sure what her best distance will be. We’re trying 1400m and we’re hoping she be one of our fillies that can put her hand up as a feature contender, which we think she can be. She can go close.”
Race 8, 1000m: “Mojo Man disappointed last time, we expected much better. He came back to the stable sound, so we don’t know why he ran below best. It’s perhaps best just drawing a line through that performance. We’re hoping he can bounce back to his best and he must have an eachway chance.”

It’s a glittering weekend of international racing, with major events in Australia, Hong Kong and the UK.
At Royal Randwick in Sydney, the $AUD20-million TAB The Everest Sprint over 1200m features the world’s top-rated turf sprinter, Ka Ying Rising, up against Australia’s best. The Hong Kong-based galloper has won 13 successive races and he drew near the middle of the line-up in gate seven. Ka Ying Rising firmed in the betting when his trainer, David Hayes, said that the draw was perfect and gives his champion good options. You can get around 9-10 on the Betway boards (Friday), but these odds are expected to change as there is lots of interest in the race, which will be televised at 07:15am, SA time, on Saturday.
The meetings at Randwick and Ascot, later on Saturday, will feature commingled TAB World Pool betting on most races, and you can access these large pools via the Betway Tote Portal.
The Group 1 QIPCO Champion Stakes over 2000m is the main attraction on a a seven-race card at Ascot. Ombudsman, Delacroix and Calandagan – traditional rivals, will square up in a quality renewal of this glittering contest. Delacroix got the better of Ombudsman in the Group 1 Coral-Eclipse Stakes, but the result was reversed in Group 1 Juddmonte International in August. Frenh raider Calandagan is in top form, having won the Group 1 King George this season. He finished second in the Champion Stakes last year and his connections believe he can go one better.
At Sha Tin on Sunday, there could be a duel in the Sha Tin Trophy between My Wish, who won a Group 3 race recently and is one of Hong Kong’s young stars, and the accomplished older horse, Voyage Bubble. My Wish is well handicapped and could come through his toughest test yet with flying colours.
