The
2024/25 National Basketball Association (NBA) Finals will see two teams battle to be crowned champions for the first time in their history.
What to know about the NBA finals
The best-of-seven series will be played between the Indiana Pacers, who won the Eastern Conference and the Western Conference champions, the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The series is scheduled to begin on June 6, with a possible Game 7 scheduled for June 23. With a league-best record of 68-14, the Thunder will have home-court advantage in the Finals.
How They Qualified
Oklahoma City Thunder dispatched the Memphis Grizzlies in the First Round, before defeating the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference semi-finals, and they won the series handily against the Minnesota Timberwolves in five games in the Western Conference Finals.
The Indiana Pacers, on the other hand, defeated the Milwaukee Bucks in five games in the First Round series, before upsetting the 64-win Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Semifinals and then outclassing the New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference Finals.
What Is At Stake
The winner between the Oklahoma City Thunder and Indian Pacers will receive the Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy, which is the championship trophy awarded by the NBA to the champions of the Finals.
The NBA would also distribute $34.7 million in playoff bonuses and each player on the winning team is expected to paid $514,970 for winning the whole thing.

"I think it's a new blueprint for the league, man," said Pacers center Myles Turner after helping the team reach the NBA finals.
"The years of the superteams and stacking [stars] is not as effective as it once was. Since I've been in the league, this NBA is very trendy. It just shifts.
"But the new trend now is just kind of what we're doing. OKC does the same thing. Young guys, get out and run, defend and use the power of friendship."
