Morocco will take on South Africa in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier at the Stade Prince Moulay Abdallah on June 9. 
 
The Lions Atlas secured a 4-1 over DR Congo at home in their last competitive match which was the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier on March 29.
 
Therefore, Morocco are unbeaten in their last two competitive matches having recorded one draw and one win which came against DR Congo. 
 
The 1976 African champions are also undefeated in their last 15 home matches in the AFCON qualifiers having recorded 13 wins and two draws.
 
Meanwhile, South Africa succumbed to a 1-0 defeat to Ghana in their last competitive game which was the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier on November 14.
 
The defeat ended Bafana Bafana's five-match unbeaten run in competitive games having registered four consecutive wins and one draw.
 
The 1996 African champions have been inconsistent on the road in the AFCON qualifiers having registered one defeat and two wins as the visitors.

“We know the players and the team (Morocco) very well. But they are still a good team, although we have a plan," Bafana coach Hugo Broos said. 
 
"We will see if that plan will succeed come next Thursday. We know what we have to do. And one thing that is important is to have the (right) mentality and confidence.
 
"When you go to Morocco with fear it is better that you stay right here at home.”
 
The last meeting between Morocco and South Africa was on 01 July 2019. 
 
The Atlas Lions emerged as 1-0 winners over Bafana in a 2019 AFCON Group D game which was played at the Al Salam Stadium in Egypt.
