The 2026 German Grand Prix returns to the legendary Sachsenring this weekend, promising fireworks in front of one of the most enthusiastic home audiences on the calendar.

What to know about the German MotoGP

Sachsenring, often called the “Ring of Heroes,” has been a permanent fixture on the MotoGP calendar since 1998 and is famous for its demanding layout dominated by left-hand corners.

The 3.671 km circuit features 13 turns (10 left, 3 right), a mix of tight, technical sections, elevation changes, and high-speed sweeps that test braking, lean angle, and rider stamina.

It’s a true riders’ circuit where precision and confidence are rewarded, and where surprise results happen regularly.

The Netherlands MotoGP (Round 10 at Assen) delivered thrilling Dutch TT drama on 28 June.

Ai Ogura took a brilliant maiden MotoGP victory, with teammate Raúl Fernández finishing second and Jorge Martin completing the all-Aprilia podium in third.

Standings

Jorge Martín leads the 2026 MotoGP riders’ championship with 193 points, seven points ahead of Marco Bezzecchi.

Fabio Di Giannantonio sits third with 177 points, while Ai Ogura and Marc Márquez hold fourth and fifth.

Raúl Fernández, Pedro Acosta, and Francesco Bagnaia round out the top eight.  Aprilia dominates the constructors’ standings ahead of Ducati and KTM.

Quotes

“It was a tough race! As always, Assen proved to be one of the most demanding tracks on the calendar," Fabio Di Giannantonio said after finishing fourth in the 2026 Netherlands MotoGP.

"I made a mistake at the start by braking too early and lost several positions. But I stayed calm and focused, managed the tyres well, and in the final laps I was able to push.

"We’ve had quite a few fourth-place finishes this season, but it’s a very positive result looking at the championship.”
