Group A
Matchday 3
Norway v Iceland

Norway will be looking to keep their perfect record at Euro 2025 intact when they face Iceland at Arena Thun on Thursday, July 10.

The Norwegians have an impressive record in the continental showpiece as two-time champions in 1987 and 1993, while they've reached the final on another four occasions, most recently in 2013.

After being eliminated at the group stages in 2017 and 2022, Gemma Grainger's side had a point to prove this year and they dug deep to beat Switzerland 2-1 first up on July 2 before seeing off Finland by the same scoreline four days later.

The victory over the Finns guaranteed their place in the quarter-finals and Norway will be targeting their eighth win over Iceland, who have only managed to beat their Nordic rivals three times in head-to-head meetings.

Our Girls are set for another early departure from the tournament, having also failed to progress past the group stages in 2009, 2017 and 2022, with their best showing coming in 2013 when they made it as far as the last eight.

Thorsteinn Halldorsson's side got their campaign underway with a narrow 1-0 loss to Finland on July 2 and a 2-0 defeat against Switzerland on July 4 sealed their fate.

Grainger praised her players for working hard to get all three points against the Swiss after being on the back foot for large periods in the game before Graham Hansen scored in the 84th minute.

"First of all, the important thing is to get the three points. At this level, at this tournament, the games are so competitive, you not going to have every moment of every game," she said.

"What I'm really happy about today is that obviously we scored early, I think we could probably have been three or four-nil up in the first 20 minutes and then the game changed a little bit.

"But we dug in, we had to work hard. It's the qualities of a good team and then we find a way to win, and very happy to be sat here with the three points."

Halldorsson admits he has not yet decided whether or not to give other players a chance who did not feature in the opening two matches with nothing left to play for but pride.

"I haven't decided anything yet. I'll just think about it today and tomorrow and then we'll make some decisions that will only be good. Whether or not I give the players a chance and change something will only become clear," he said.

Head-to-Head:
