Double round-robin
30 January - 4 February 2024

Durban's Super Giants will be looking to make it four wins in a row when they host Pretoria Capitals at Kingsmead on Tuesday, January 30.

The Super Giants have surged to the top of the table on 28 points after beating MI Cape Town at Newlands on January 23 before crushing Paarl Royals both home and away.

Lance Klusener's side eased past the Royals by 125 runs in Durban on January 28 to open up a six-point lead on their closest challengers from the Western Cape, with Noor Ahmad's bowling figures of 5/11 playing a crucial role in their victory.

DSG captain Keshav Maharaj was full of praise for the Afghanistan left-arm unorthodox spinner, who took the first five-wicket haul of the season and was on a hat-trick on two occasions.

"Absolutely special (Ahmad). He's always delivered and is a world-class performer which is why we got him here. He's young in his career and has done wonderful things," Maharaj said.

The Capitals are one of three teams fighting for the final playoff spot and they are currently sitting fourth on 10 points, although the no result against Joburg Super Kings on January 27 didn't help their cause.

Sunrisers Eastern Cape will be targeting back-to-back wins when they face Joburg Super Kings at Wanderers on Wednesday, January 31.

The defending champions closed within three points of the Royals after edging MI Cape Town by 4 runs in a nail-biter at St George's Park on January 27, having bounced back from a narrow 3-run defeat to the Capitals two days earlier.

The Super Kings bring up the rear after winning just one of their opening seven matches, but they're just two points adrift of their Gauteng rivals, who currently occupy the final playoff spot.

JSK picked up their solitary win when they beat the Pretoria outfit by 6 wickets on January 20 as Donovan Ferreira starred with the bat after scoring an unbeaten 56 off just 20 balls.

MI Cape Town will be desperate to put points on the table when they travel to Centurion Park for a crunch clash with Pretoria Capitals on Thursday, February 1.

Robin Peterson's side trail the Capitals by just one point in fifth place, but have a better net run rate. This will be the first of two meetings between the two teams in the space of three days.

The Mother City outfit came up just short against Sunrisers at St George's Park on January 27, which was their third defeat on the spin.

Meanwhile, Paarl Royals return to action after a five-day rest when they lock horns with Sunrisers Eastern Cape at Boland Park on Friday, February 2.

The Royals saw the Super Giants go six points clear of them in first place after crashing to a 125-run defeat at Kingsmead on January 28.

David Miller admitted the struggled to pin down Matthew Breetzke and Heinrich Klaasen, who scored 78 and 50 respectively to put DSG in the driver's seat.

"Breetzke batted well upfront. It was one of those game. Happens in such tournaments. We have five days off to reset," the Royals captain said.

"Exceptional batting at the back end from Klaasen and the boys. Difficult to work out where to bowl to Klaasen. Way he's batting is superb. We're still second on the table. Nothing to stress too much."

The return fixture takes place at St George's Park on Sunday, February 4, while Durban's Super Giants will attempt to secure top spot they take on Joburg Super Kings at Wanderers on Saturday, February 3.
