Betway Premiership
Orlando Pirates v Mamelodi Sundowns
FNB Stadium, Soweto
Wednesday, 18 February 2026
Kick-off 19:30
Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns will meet for a Betway Premiership title six-pointer, set for the FNB Stadium in Soweto on the evening of Wednesday, 18 February, 2026. Kick-off is at 19:30 CAT.
Pirates sit proudly atop the Betway Premiership standings, having claimed a 3-0 win over Marumo Gallants this past weekend to open a six-point lead over second-placed Sundowns.
The Buccaneers secured their 12th win from 16 league matches (and extended their unbeaten run across all competitions to 14) thanks to goals from Yanela Mbuthuma, Patrick Maswanganyi and Relebohile Mofokeng.
Despite their excellent form, coach Abdeslam Ouaddou was left frustrated by his team’s performance this past weekend – feeling that they failed to fully capitalise on their dominance and kill off the opponent earlier.
“The only positive point about today is the three points,” said the Buccaneers boss. “The positive is that we scored early. Had Marumo scored early, the game would have been different.
“When you are playing for such a big club with a lot of ambition, it becomes crucial that we finish in the last third. I have been saying that, and it is now becoming a sickness.”

Sundowns, who are six points behind their opponents but have a game in hand, played in the CAF Champions League this past weekend and secured a place in the quarterfinals of the continental competition with a 2-0 home win over MC Alger. Brayan Leon scored twice to see the Brazilians to victory.
Sundowns’ most recent outing in the Betway Premiership was in late January, as they defeated Sekhukhune United 2-0 away from home (goals from Nuni Santos and Leon) to keep up their push for a ninth successive PSL title.
“The Ubuntu spirit was on the pitch, in the stands, and it united us – this is the family of Masandawana. That’s all we have to be until the end of the season,” said Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso, who has experienced some pressure and criticism from supporters in recent times.
