Kaizer Chiefs will look to take another step toward glory in the Absa Premiership during a busy midweek in which six matches will be played from Tuesday 18 to Thursday 20 August 2020.

The Amakhosi opened up a six-point lead at the top of the log this past weekend with an incredible come-from-behind 3-2 win over Polokwane City, in which Samir Nurkovic continued his prolific scoring form by netting the decisive goal.

A match away to Bloemfontein Celtic at Tuks Stadium awaits Chiefs on Wednesday evening and manager Ernst Middendorp wants his team to keep pushing on and collecting points: “I try to be as less emotional as possible because this is a total different situation for each and everybody. It’s not about the relief for me, it’s about the ambition Kaizer Chiefs had set in the beginning of the season.”

It will be a busy Tuesday first, though, with Bidvest Wits and Golden Arrows meeting at FNB Stadium in the mid-afternoon, at the same time that Chippa United host Highlands Park at Orlando Stadium and look to bounce back from their weekend defeat.

The evening game on Tuesday then sees Orlando Pirates looking to break a four-game goalless streak in the Premiership when they face Baroka FC at Ellis Park.

“Yeah it’s true [we failed to score in the last four matches], I said it before that when you have a chance and you don’t score, then it’s a problem for me as a coach,” said manager Josef Zinnbauer.

Wednesday, aside from Chiefs’ clash with Celtic, also sees Polokwane City head to Bidvest Stadium to take on SuperSport United, while Thursday is headlined by a derby between Stellenbosch and Cape Town City at Tuks Stadium.

Stellies took a major step toward securing top-flight survival with a 1-0 win over Golden Arrows this past weekend and will now turn their attention to getting one over their local rivals – albeit a long, long way from the ‘Mother City’!
