Matchday 4

Liverpool v Bournemouth

Liverpool will be seeking their first win of the Premier League season when they welcome newly-promoted Bournemouth to Anfield on Saturday, August 27.

The Reds have struggled to get going this term and find themselves down in 16th place after picking up just two points from their opening three matches.

Jurgen Klopp's side are already seven points off the pace in the title race following Monday's 2-1 defeat to fierce rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils took a 2-0 lead through Jadon Sancho (16') and Marcus Rashford (53') before Mohamed Salah (81') pulled one back for the visitors in the closing stages.

Klopp admits to being concerned about the injury situation at the club after eight squad members remained unavailable for the trip to United, with only Roberto Firmino having made a recovery in time to feature.

"It's obvious we are in a tricky situation injury-wise, we get through the week with 14-15 senior players available, we have to make sure none of them get injured because there's no real options left any more," the German said.

"I'm concerned about our situation, it's not easy at the moment but that's how it is. We prepare now for Bournemouth, Newcastle and Everton - that's how it is. We can play better, we know that, but we had a lot of good moments and performances today."

The Cherries have found the going tough since their opening-day 2-0 victory over Aston Villa, following resounding losses to Manchester City and Arsenal.

Scott Parker 's troops were two goals down in the opening 11 minutes against the Gunners, courtesy of a brace from Martin Odegaard before William Saliba sealed the win early in the second half.

Parker labelled their first-half performance "unacceptable" and admitted there is valuable lessons to be learned after a poor start to the game against the north Londoners.

"There's no disgrace in losing to Arsenal in that sense but what is not acceptable is the first half and how we went about it," he said.

"Second half, there was a reaction but to come out like we did in the first half is not enough and, really, we need to understand that and the players will understand that.

"I didn't expect to see in the first half what I saw. I expected them to show a certain ingredient that we didn't show. There's some big learning to do regarding this game."
