Jon Rahm will be hoping to redeem himself when he returns to the Tour Championship having narrowly missed out on last year's title.

The Spanish star came close to winning this tournament 12 months ago when he was outsmarted by Patrick Cantlay in the playoff round.

No Spanish golfer has won the Tour Championship and Rahm will be looking to change this having clinched seven PGA Tour tournaments.

Rahmbo as he is affectionately known to his fans, Rahm is a former world number one in the Official World Golf Ranking.

The tall golfer first achieved that rank after winning the Memorial Tournament in July two years ago and in June 2021, Rahm became the first Spanish golfer to win the US Open.

In May this year, Rahmbo pulled out of a four-way tie with a 12-foot birdie putt on the 14th hole and then held on with pars for a 2-under 69 and a one-shot win Sunday in the 2022 Mexico Open.

It remains the 27-year-old's only win in the current 2021-22 PGA Tour season and he will be eager to end the campaign with a win as he is placed 11th on the FedEx Cup standings.

“My goal is to finish as high as possible on the leaderboard. I play to win; and if not, I’m going to try to finish second; and if not, third; and so on," Rahm said about his FedEx Cup ranking a week ago.

"Thirty is better than thirty-one. Simple as that, right? My mindset doesn’t really change. I know the consequences could be greater going into next week if you miss a shot or not,

"But you can’t be down the stretch thinking, ‘If I don’t make a birdie, I’m going to be in 17th place next week.’

Tiger Woods is the most decorated golfer in the history of the Tour Championship having won the tournament three times.
