Building up communities through sport has always been something the Betway team was passionate about. By sponsoring local sports team throughout Africa we have seen how sports can alter the lives of young and old within their communities. However, as the COVID-19 Virus spread across the globe the team at Betway knew more could be done, as people’s livelihoods were on the line. As countries across Africa went into lockdown more people were worried about their safety and how they would be able to feed their families. The CSR team at Betway worked with the relevant country managers to ensure medical equipment and food donations could be distributed to those in need.
Betway South Africa

“We are truly grateful for Betway’s generous donation to Afrika Tikkun, a donation that shows that Betway truly cares about the health and wellbeing of vulnerable South African communities. The donation has assisted us in the distribution of essential supplies such as food, sanitising products and personal protective equipment (PPE),” said Onyi Nwaneri, CEO of Afrika Tikkun Services.

Dr. Kweku Ainuson, who led the Betway Team said, “As the country continues to be in lockdown, we are all experiencing the full impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. We are committing GHC 150,000 to help fight the COVID-19 as well as its related challenges.” “The funds will support government’s food relief efforts and other supplies that may be needed to eradicate the virus.”
A further donation was made to a local charity to help provide food and water to communities across the country ensuring the poor and vulnerable are assisted.
