Betway SA COVID-19 relief donation helps various worthy causes

Realising the devastating impact of COVID-19, Betway South Africa donated R2-million in relief funds across 18 charitable organisations, who continue to be at the forefront of the fight against the global pandemic.
Working closely with it’s brand ambassador, Lucas Radebe, and the Betway Squad, the team partnered with various organisations to help communities that have been severely affected by the national lockdown. The donation comes on the back of Betway’s monthly community upliftment initiatives under the #BetwayCares theme initiated just two years ago.
Since then, Betway has been committed to assisting local communities through a number initiatives by donating much needed sporting equipment, non-perishable food supplies and other essential items.
As recently demonstrated in their bold stand against COVID-19, the temporary pause of all live sporting activities has not halted Betway’s efforts to remain a brand that cares.
The beneficiaries of the donations expressed their gratitude to Betway, saying that it had gone a long way in ensuring that thousands of families across the country would have access to food, health essentials and, most importantly, dignity during this difficult time.
“We are truly grateful for Betway’s generous donation to Afrika Tikkun, a donation that shows that Betway truly cares about the health and wellbeing of vulnerable South African communities. The donation has assisted us in the distribution of essential supplies such as food, sanitising products and personal protective equipment (PPE),” said Onyi Nwaneri, CEO of Afrika Tikkun Services.
Gavin Koppel from SHOUT SA also praised Betway for their donation, which was used to purchase medically approved masks that were distributed to a number of hospitals and healthcare facilities.
“The impact that Betway has made is unparalleled. Through the significant donation, medically approved masks have been delivered to Charlotte Maxeke, Chris Hani Baragwanath, Sebokeng and Helen Joseph Hospitals. Thank you for keeping our essential healthcare heroes safe,” said Koppel.
Feed SA’s Roxy Priebatsch, said that partnering with Betway has allowed them to make a difference in some of the most severely impacted communities in South Africa. They currently feed more than 6,000 people on a daily basis.
“During this pandemic, we have been fortunate enough to partner with organisations such as Betway, whose philanthropic activities have aligned with ours and together, we have been able to make a real difference. The funds provided are directly impacting people’s lives and are going a long way in alleviating food insecurity and anxiety for thousands of households. People have received essential aid, allowing them to stay home, isolate effectively, improve their sanitation and ultimately help manage the spread of COVID-19,” she said.
Betway wishes to thank all 18 organisations who have partnered with the brand in taking a stand in the fight against one of the greatest human and economic crises of our generation. In solidarity with the communities that we operate in, we are proud to have played a role in supporting national food relief and supply efforts needed to help flatten the curve.
