Matthew Breetzke’s 112 and Marco Jansen’s 75 lifted South Africa to 297 for 8 after they were inserted in Durban.
Australia collapsed from 129 for 1 to 230 all out as Keshav Maharaj took 4 for 20 and Bjorn Fortuin shared six spin wickets with him.
