West Ham face Foxes test

2019/20 Premier League

Round 20

28-29 December 2019

West Ham United will face a stern test of their credentials when they host Leicester City at the London Stadium on Saturday 28 December 2019, kick-off at 19:30 CAT. The match is one of 10 spread over 28-29 December in the 20th round of the current Premier League season.

West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini has been a man under pressure, but his players have put in the effort to try and save his job and will continue to do so, even under tough circumstances.

“A good manager doesn’t put pressure on his players. A good manager allows you to play with freedom and confidence,” explained attacker Michail Antonio. “That is something he said to us: ‘Just go out there and play as well as you know you can.’”

Leicester’s excellent season thus far makes them one of the top teams to watch over the festive season, but even they could fall foul of the manic schedule imposed on English teams at this time of the year.

“We are a team that’s been developing over this last nine, 10 months from a mid-table position and now people are talking about challenging for titles,” said manager Brendan Rodgers. “For us our feet are very firmly on the ground and the players have been absolutely amazing.”
