UFC & EFC 82 set to thrill this weekend

Mixed Martial Arts

UFC Fight Night 160 and EFC 82

28 September 2019
Fight fans will be in for a thrilling weekend of Mixed Martial Arts action with both UFC Fight Night 160 and EFC 82 taking place this coming Saturday.
UFC Fight Night 160 will be taking place at the Royal Arena in Copenhagen, Denmark, while EFC 82 will be hosted at Carnival City in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The headline bout for UFC Fight Night 160 is a Middleweight bout between Sweden’s Jack ‘The Joker’ Hermansson (20-4-0) and American Jared ‘The Killa Gorilla’ Cannonier (12-4-0).
UFC Fighter Jack ‘The Joker’ Hermansson
Hermansson is on a four-match win streak and looking to further boost himself up the division’s rankings. His last outing was a unanimous decision victory over Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza back in April, and a fifth straight win would surely bring him close to title-challenger status.

But standing in his way is Cannonier, who has dropped down to the Middleweight division in the last two years and is chasing a hat-trick of victories. He was last in action in May and claimed an impressive TKO win over Anderson Silva at UFC 237.
UFC Fight Night 160 will also see the following fights on the main card: Mark Madsen (7-0-0) v Danilo Belluardo (12-4-0) in the Lightweight division; a Welterweight battle between Gunnar Nelson (17-4-1) and Thiago Alves (23-14-0); Light Heavyweight matches featuring on Cutelaba (14-4-0, 1 NC) v Khalil Rountree (8-3-0, 1 NC) and Michal Oleksiejczuk (14-2-0, 1 NC) v Ovince Saint Preux (23-13-0); as well as a Welterweight match between Nicolas Dalby (14-2-1) v Alex Oliveira (19-7-1, 2 NC).
EFC Fighter Luke ‘Young Gun’ Michael
EFC 82 in South Africa, on the other hand, features two title matches: Zimbabwean Themba ‘The Answer’ Gorimbo (7-2-0) defends his Welterweight championship against South Africa’s Luke ‘Young Gun’ Michael (4-3-0) in the main event, while the co-main sees Simon Biyong (5-1-0) looking to dethrone Quinton Rossouw (3-0-0) as king of the Light Heavyweight division.

Fighting out of Parklands, CPT at Camp Fight, Michael is under the watchful and experienced eyes and hands of David Dornbrack and training partner Champion Dalcha Lungiambula.
Training three to four times a day, six days a week is a sure indication that MMA is more than a lifestyle for this 23-year-old who is sporting a pro fight history of 4 -3 (W-L). Michael is currently riding a two-fight win streak, with two first round submission wins. Only strengthening his 100% finish rate.
Themba ‘The Answer’ Gorimbo
Gorimbo’s entry into the MMA world was everything but successful, fighting as an amateur while working as a gardener. After getting his first EFC fight, Gorimbo went on an unrelenting, 5
fight winning streak which gave him a shot at the lightweight title.
Fight fans will also be able to see the following fights on the card: Stefan Pretorius (3-5-0) v Zaakir Badat (1-0-0) in the Light Heavyweight division; a Bantamweight battle between Luthando Biko (5-2-0) v Tumisnag Madiba (9-8-0); and Dino Bagattin (12-9-0) v Pietie Coxen (5-10-0) in another Welterweight clash.
