The Reds thumped Leicester City 3-0 this past weekend to make it 64 consecutive games unbeaten at Anfield, which is a club record. The result moved the champions level on 20 points with leaders Tottenham Hotspur and serves as a boost amid an injury crisis at the club.

Liverpool are already without Joe Gomez, Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Jordan Henderson through injury and had to do without Mohamed Salah after he tested positive for Covid-19.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp felt it was very much the 'perfect night' all considered, that was up until Naby Keita had to leave the field with an injury blow.

For the fans

"Yeah, until Naby left the pitch. You are right: the game was really good. We had to play really good because otherwise you would have no chance and the boys did it from the first second," said Klopp.

"We controlled the game, we passed the right passes, moved in the right spaces, offered direction, used these offers. So, a lot of things were really, really good. We scored two goals after a set-piece but a lot of good football moments in a really, really good performance."

Brighton ended a six-game winless run with a 2-1 victory away to Aston Villa last time out. Danny Welbeck scored for the first time in Seagulls colours and was impressive throughout, but Graham Potter will have to do without star full-back Tariq Lamptey for Liverpool's visit after he was sent off at Villa Park.

The corresponding fixture last season ended in a 1-0 win for the visitors. Mohamed Salah converted from the spot for the only goal of the game.
