Jacaranda FM will be Betway’s official Radio Partner for the 2025 R6-million Grade 1 Betway Summer Cup, Gauteng’s premier horse racing event on Saturday 29 November at Turffontein.
Vuyani Dombo, Managing Director at Jacaranda FM, said that partnering with the Betway Summer Cup was a perfect fit for his radio station, because both brands share a passion for bringing people together through unforgettable experiences.
Betway’s ante-post market for the marquee race enjoyed some lively activity this week, with support coming for trainer Tony Peter’s Irish-bred import, The Equator. The Galileo entire opened at 11-1 and is presently at 9-1. He will be completing his preparation for the Cup in a Graduation Plate at Turffontein on Saturday and Peter believes they only have Parisian Walkway to beat.
Confederate, the firm ante-post favourite at 8-1, will be seen in action again in next week’s Charity Mile, and his odds will shrink significantly if he wins the race.
Betway Ambassador Mike de Kock and son Mathew de Kock will also be running their Summer Cup prospect, Spumante Dolce, in next week’s feature. Mike said this week that the filly enjoyed some time off on the farm after her last run, and that she’s come back in superb shape. Spumante Dolce has been priced up at 17-1.
The De Kock team have runners this weekend at
Turffontein on Sunday, HWB Greyville on Monday and the Vaal on Tuesday, for which Mat has filed reports, below:
Turffontein (standside), Sunday 26 October:
Race 1, 1400m: “Our newcomer
Stokesy, by Fire Away, is a really nice horse and if it wasn’t for his bad draw we would have been confident that he could dispute the finish. The favourite looks hard to oppose from an inside draw. We’re still expecting a good run, Stokesey is one to follow.”
Race 4, 2000m: “
Marauding Horde badly needed last week’s comeback run, and we’re expecting improvement here. This is a more suitable distance and he’s come on at home.”
Race 7, 1160m: “We found nothing wrong with
Greaterix after his disappointing comeback run recently. We’ve had him on the grass and he galloped well. He should have made nice natural improvement and, back down the straight, we’re expecting a good run, this is probably his game. I’d like to say let’s forget the last run and start afresh. Include him.”
Hollywoodbets Greyville, Monday 27 October:
Race 1, 2000m: “Cheerscheerscheers couldn’t get into the hunt from a deep draw last time. We’re stepping him up to 2000m and he should enjoy this distance. He should have a good eachway chance.”
Vaal, Tuesday, 28 October:
Race 1, 1200m: “Mme Huntress is a fairly limited filly but it looks as if she is in the right race here. She has an eachway chance.”
Race 6, 1000m: “Constellation is not at peak fitness after his rest, but he is not far off. He has been showing some top-quality work at home, but as a three-year-old it won’t be easy here. That said, we’ll be disappointed if he doesn’t show us something positive in this race. He’ll improve for the run, but has a winning chance.”
Race 7, 1200m: “Yippee Kiyay is returning to the track after being gelded and he’s doing pretty well at home. It’s a tough race for him to kick off in, but we’re hoping to see him run a forward race.”

Aidan O’Brien and his stand-in stable jockey, Christophe Soumillon, are the team to beat in the Group 1 William Hill Futurity Trophy Stakes over 1600m at Doncaster on Saturday. Soumillon rides Benvenuto Cellini, a progressive son of Frankel. Stablemate Hawk Mountain looks the danger on his own good recent form.
