Real Madrid have a chance to secure top spot in Group F when they face RB Leipzig at the Red Bull Arena on matchday 5 in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday, October 25.

The defending champions lead the group by four points after going unbeaten in their opening four games, having seen Shakhtar Donetsk halt their perfect record  a 1-1 draw on matchday 4.

Carlo Ancelotti's side beat the Red Bulls 2-0 at the Bernabeu on matchday 2, although it took two late goals from Federico Valverde (80') and Marco Asensio (90') to clinch all three points.

Los Blancos qualified for the knockout phase of the competition with the point they earned against the Miners in Warsaw and Ancelotti was pleased with their fighting spirit after falling behind at the start of the second half.

"We're in good shape at this stage of the season. We're in the last 16 of the Champions League and we've done our job and showed that we never give up," the Italian said after the match.

"We put in a very poor performance here and these things happen in football, but the important thing is not to give up when things don't go your way. We kept going until the end."

Leipzig have recovered from a poor start to their European campaign by recording back-to-back wins against Celtic to move up to second place in the group.

Second-half goals from Timo Werner (75') and Emil Forsberg (84') secured maximum points at Parkhead last time out, putting Marco Rose's team in a strong position to progress to the last 16.

Rose admitted they rode their luck at times against the Hoops and has urged his players to produce a quality performance throughout the 90 minutes after they played well in patches on the night.

"It was an important win but a deserved win. We played against a tough opponent in a great stadium," the German said.

"We started the game well but we didn't really pose much of a threat. We were dominant in the second half, we had a couple of moments where the luck was on our side but we came up against a great goalkeeper and a side with lots of quality.

"It was important for us to stay positive and to use the energy in the stadium to our advantage. We had some good phases in the game but we now need to show our quality over 90 minutes."
