Aprilia rider Maverick Vinales will be looking to successfully defend his Emilia Romagna MotoGP title on October 24.

The Spanish star won the first-ever Emilia Romagna MotoGP race which was the eighth round of the 2020 Grand Prix motorcycle racing season.

Vinales missed the most recent race in the current campaign which was the Americas MotoGP on October 3 due to family bereavement.

Honda rider Marc Marquez won the Americas MotoGP title and it was his second win of the season having also clinched the German MotoGP on June 20.

Yamaha's Fabio Quartararo and Francesco Bagnaia of Ducati finished second and third respectively following an entertaining race in Austin, Texas.

Quartararo is still sitting at the top of the Riders' standings, while Bagnaia and Joan Mir of Suzuki are placed second and third respectively on the table.

Vinales is placed ninth on the standings and he will move into the top eight if he wins this weekend's race.

“Returning to the race at Misano is special for me, here I tried the RS-GP for the first time and my story with Aprilia began," Vinales said ahead of the Emilia Romagna MotoGP.

"The temperatures will be lower than in September, a factor that I want to exploit because it should allow me to use a softer front compound.

"I can't wait to get back on the saddle to continue our growth."

Ducati are placed at the top of Constructors' Championship standings and they are followed by Yamaha and Suzuki respectively.
