Spurs stretched their unbeaten run in the league to five matches with a 1-0 win away to Burnley on Monday evening. The league's top scorer Son Heung-min netted for the eighth time this season to move the North London club up to fifth spot.

After giving up a three-goal lead in a thrilling 3-3 draw at home to West Ham United, Spurs manager Jose Mourinho applauded his team's character at Turf Moor.

"This is the kind of match with all the ingredients to lose two points and sometimes three. We prepared... but it is the game that without character and determination you lose points here so I am very happy," Mourinho said in the aftermath.

"I said before the game this was not the game for beautiful football or the game to score many goals. Sean Dyche knows how to organise a team and to stop the better teams from playing through it.

He continued: "I want the team to go to every match to win it, home away Premier League, Europa League, you can lose or draw but go to win it. This is something special, a change of mentality, of philosophy.

For the fans

"I have the feeling again that after we felt the pain, got the points in a positive way that tonight it is not going to happen and we are not going to concede. If we are not going to score lots of goals we cannot concede and everyone fought for that."

Brighton's winless run in the league stretched to four matches with a 1-1 draw at home to West Brom in their most recent encounter.

The corresponding fixture last season ended in a 2-1 win for the hosts with goals from Harry Kane and Dele Alli having fired Spurs to all three points.
