As a team leading the way in Serie A currently, AS Roma will no doubt hope to maintain their fine form when they take on reigning champions Napoli at Stadio Olimpico this coming Sunday.
After nine wins in 12 matches played so far, Roma currently holds a two point lead over AC Milan and their upcoming opponents at the top of the pile.
Roma have also picked up back-to-back wins in their last two league fixtures, with the latest being a 3-1 result over Cremonese this past Sunday.
Napoli are in third position after their matchday 12 obligations where they bagged a 3-1 win against Atalanta on home soil.
Antonio Conte’s charges were in need of a win this weekend, considering their 2-0 loss to Bologna ahead of the international break, which ultimately led to their slip up on the league table.
Reflecting on Roma’s win over Cremonese, coach Gian Piero Gasperini has urged his side to maintain their current run of form, with the dream of bagging the Serie A title at the end of the campaign.
“To keep playing the way we’ve been playing [when asked about his side’s chances of winning the league],” Gasperini said.
“I’ve already said this: there’s nothing wrong with dreaming when you’re doing great, but we know very well that dreams rarely come true.
“It’s very nice to experience this dream and we will enjoy it as long as we can. We pretend to wake up and sleep a bit longer – that way it will last longer.”
