Matchday 8
Aston Villa vs Manchester City
Villa Park
Birmingham, England
Saturday, 24 October 2026
Kick-off is at 13:30
As one of the in form teams in the Premier League at the moment, Manchester City have truly ignored the controversy around their name during the last couple of months and could record their eighth straight win in the league when they take on Aston Villa this weekend.
Despite the Premier League’s verdict of finding the club guilty on 115 financial breach charges last month, City lead the way at the top of the pile with a 100% win record and 21 points to their name after seven matches played.
In turn, Enzo Maresca became the first manager in Premier League history to record seven consecutive wins to commence the campaign following their recent 3-2 win over Ipswich at home.
City have now opened up a three-point gap over reigning league winners Arsenal, whose run of form was blemished following a 3-0 loss against Brighton last month.
Villa, who is largely considered as one of the big hitters in the league, currently find themselves in 12th position on eight points after noting just two wins from seven games.
Unai Emery’s side saw out a narrow 1-0 away victory over Newcastle this past weekend to maintain a three-match unbeaten run.
The popular English side have now recorded two wins, two draws in their last five games, while they last tasted defeat on 12 September through a 2-1 result against Nottingham Forest at home.

Reflecting on City’s blistering form in recent weeks, City manager Enzo Maresca noted that he is more than happy with what he is seeing from his team, which has largely been down to the player’s hard grafting behind the scenes.
“First of all, I am very happy because it’s a matter of winning games in this business,” Maresca said.
“We were able to win seven in a row and what made me very happy was day-by-day with the players, the way they are working and how I can see them improving.
“Today I thought we controlled the game, created chances and were good off the ball. We are doing well and I think that’s the most important thing.”
