Barcelona have the chance to reclaim top spot from Real Madrid for 24 hours at least when Alaves visit the Camp Nou on Saturday, November 29.
The Blaugrana have not stood at the La Liga summit since matchday 7 after two defeats in their next three games saw Los Blancos pull clear of their arch-rivals in the title race.
However, the league leaders have stumbled of late to allow Hansi Flick's side to close right up on them in second place, with a 4-0 victory over Athletic Bilbao on November 22 slashing the gap to just one point.
The Babazorros have struggled for any kind of consistency this season, failing to record back-to-back wins even once after 13 rounds.
Eduardo Coudet's side are in danger of suffering a third defeat on the spin after a 1-0 reverse to Celta Vigo on November 22 meant they have only picked up four points from their last five encounters.
That return has left the Basque outfit just four points clear of the relegation zone in 14th position, although they are only two outside the top 10.
Flick hailed Barca's return to their iconic stadium as "a perfect day" after they routed Athletic and he's relishing the prospect of turning the Camp Nou into a real fortress again.
"For everyone it was a very special match, for us as a team and for the supporters. The feeling was incredible," the German said.
"I'm very happy: we've won 4–0 on the day we opened our new stadium with all our fans behind us, and we've taken three points. It's been a perfect day.
"I'm very happy to be home, but we need to go step by step. We're really excited to see how the team evolves this season now that we're back."
