Ducati rider Johann Zarco will be determined to boost his hopes of finishing in the top three at the Algarve MotoGP on November 7.

The French star will be returning to the Algarve International Circuit where he was forced to retire after a crash during the Portuguese MotoGP in April this year.

However, Zarco came close to securing a podium finish in the most recent race which was the Emilia Romagna MotoGP as he finished fifth on October 24.

Honda rider Marc Marquez won the Emilia Romagna MotoGP and it was his third victory of the current campaign.

While his teammate Pol Espargaro and Enea Bastianini of Ducati finished second and third respectively in a race which took place at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli.

Fabio Quartararo of Yahama is sitting at the top of the Riders' standings having been crowned 2021 MotoGP World champion.

While Ducati rider Francesco Bagnaia and Joan Mir of Suzuki are placed second and third respectively on the standings with two races left in the current campaign.

Fourth-placed Zarco is just 50 points behind Bagnaia and 23 points behind Mir as he looks to finish in the top three.

"I’m pretty happy. I was very constant during the whole race which was very important for me to rebuild some confidence," Zarco said as he reacted to the Emilia Romagna MotoGP.

"Clearly conditions were maybe not easy because we got so many crashes. I also got the benefit of these crashes because step-by-step I was gaining positions.

"But also the feeling with the group was good, I was enjoying it with the other guys, I was overtaking and as I said, I was very constant," he added.

"Physically I was feeling good, which is positive going forward. There were many positive and important things to take. Also, for the championship it has been a good Sunday for me."

Ducati are placed at the top of Constructors' Championship standings and they are followed by Yamaha and Suzuki respectively.
