The French star endured a disappointing race at the 2020 Valencian MotoGP as he was forced to retire due to an accident.

Quartararo was also forced to retire from the most recent race in the 2021 MotoGP World Championship season which was the Algarve MotoGP on November 7.

The Algarve MotoGP was won by Francesco Bagnaia of Ducati, while Suzuki rider Joan Mir and Jack Miller of Ducati finished second and third respectively.

Quartararo clinched the 2021 MotoGP world championship despite finishing second at the Emilia Romagna MotoGP on October 24.

Therefore, Quartararo is placed at the top of the Riders' standings and he is followed by Bagnaia and Joan Mir of Suzuki respectively.

The 22-year-old has won five races this season and he will be looking to make it six victories at the Valencian MotoGP.

“To be honest, no, because this morning my pace was good, all the weekend it was really good apart from Saturday afternoon,” Quartararo said after the Algarve MotoGP.

“Then it’s just a shame to feel that difference, and to be honest when I crashed, I was just like ‘let’s see what happens’. I was on the limit, and I couldn’t make the corner but I know if I waited I would have been overtaken by the others and I just gave it a try.

“And the try didn’t work. I see clearly weak points on our bike that the others don’t have, but also I see clear positive points that some others don’t have. “But we really need to, even if we lose in one way, we really need to gain in top speed because to overtake it’s just a nightmare – we just can’t overtake.”

Ducati are placed at the top of Constructors' Championship standings and they are followed by Yamaha and Suzuki respectively.
