World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz will be targeting the second Grand Slam of his career at the 2023 French Open, which gets underway on Sunday, May 28.

The Spaniard won the 2022 US Open when he beat 5th seed Casper Ruud in four sets to become the youngest No. 1 in the history of the ATP Rankings at the age of 19 years, four months and six days.

Alcaraz missed the 2023 Australian Open due to a hamstring injury but has gone on to win four of the seven tournaments he's competed in this year since returning to action.

The 20-year-old most recently defended his title at the Madrid Open by defeating Jan-Lennard Struff in straight sets on May 7, although he subsequently bowed out of the Italian Open at the third round following a 3-6, 6-7 loss to Fabian Marozsan.

Alcaraz is making his fourth appearance at Roland Garros, having produced his best showing in 2022 when he reached the quarter-finals before losing to Alexander Zverev in four sets.

The young sensation from El Palmar admitted Marozsan didn't allow him to get a foothold in the Italian Open final and praised the 135-ranked Hungarian's aggressive approach.

Asked if he experienced any physical discomfort, Alcaraz replied: "No, no, no. I was perfect physically. I just didn't feel comfortable.

"He made me feel uncomfortable on court. He was aggressive all the time. He was playing inside the baseline all the time. It was tough for me to get into the match, into the rally."
