2022 Spanish Grand Prix

Lewis Hamilton will be eager to set a new record by becoming the first driver to win the Spanish Grand Prix a record seven times on May 22.

The Mercedes driver won last year's Spanish Grand Prix as he matched Formula One icon Michael Schumacher's record of six titles in Spain.

Hamilton's struggles in the current season continued as he finished sixth at the 2022 Miami Grand Prix on May 8 and he is yet to win a race this term.

The accomplished driver and Fernando Alonso of Alpine made contact at the start of the race, but Hamilton recovered well and he passed AlphaTauri's Pierre Gasly for P6 and finished in that position.

The Miami Grand Prix was won by Red Bull Racing-RBPT driver Max Verstappen with the Ferrari duo of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz Jr finishing second and third respectively.

Charles Leclerc of Ferrari is sitting at the top of the 2022 Drivers' Championship standings with defending champions Verstappen placed second.

Hamilton is sitting sixth on the standings and he will be eyeing nothing but a win when he competes at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya where he has enjoyed so much success.

“I was giving it everything but a bit stuck behind a few people at the beginning," Hamilton said after the Miami Grand Prix.

"A bit unlucky, but you learn and I got back to sixth, we got points, so we didn’t lose anything today, really/. The car definitely didn’t feel the same as it did on the laps to the grid.

"So I’m sure they will check it but probably corner weights; it was quite a hard hit… but otherwise okay. I did the best I could, a bit unfortunate, but we got good points as a team and we’ll take them and move on.”

Ferrari are placed at the top of the Constructors' Championship standings and they are followed by Red Bull Racing-RBPT and Mercedes respectively.
