Regular Season

Dallas Mavericks v Golden State Warriors

Dallas, USA
Friday, 5 February 2021

Dallas Mavericks are set to meet the Golden State Warriors in the National Basketball Association (NBA) match at the American Airlines Center on February 5.

This will be the 169th meeting between the two former NBA champions.

The Mavericks have dominated this rivalry having registered 86 wins compared to the Warriors' 82 victories.

Their last meeting was on 15 January 2021 and the Mavericks secured a 124-97 victory over the Warriors at the Chase Center.

The Mavericks find themselves on the 13th spot in the Western Conference standings having recorded eight wins and 13 defeats.

The 2011 NBA champions suffered a 109-18 defeat to Phoniex Suns in their last home game which was played on 2 February 2021.

They are now winless in their last five matches at home having registered five consecutive defeats at the American Airlines Center.

Rick Carlisle, the Mavericks head coach, says power forward Kristaps Porzingis is getting close to playing back-to-back games having returned from knee surgery.

”I think it’s important that everybody understands that we’re working toward a point where he can play back to backs,” Carlisle said.

“And we feel like we’re getting close there. His legs, his body, everything feels good. It’s a process of building that stuff back up.

”And I should be very clear. He wants to play in all these games. It really bothers him that he can’t be out there to help the team.”

As a result, they are winless in their last two matches on the road having recorded two successive defeats as the visitors.
