On the back of a positive T3 position at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, Swedish golfer Ludvig Aberg will be among the favourites ahead of the popular Players’ Championship this week.
What to know about Ludvig Aberg
Aberg, 26, is a Swedish golfer who turned professional in 2023 and has swiftly become a top contender on the PGA and European Tour.
While football was his first love in sport, Aberg went on to build a promising amateur career in golf between 2016 and 2023. However, in 2023 he put the golfing world on notice en route to winning The Prestige, Valspar Collegiate, Big 12 Men's Championship, and NCAA Norman Regional in the same year.
As a pro, the 2024 Honorary member of the PGA of Sweden award winner claimed two PGA Tour wins, including one European Tour wins. Aberg claimed the 2023 RSM Classic before bagging the Genesis Invitational two years later on the PGA Tour.
Aberg’s only win on the European Tour came in September 2023, where he lifted the Omega European Masters title, two strokes ahead of fellow Swede Alexander Bjork.
What did he say
Speaking ahead of the Players’ Championship, Aberg expressed that keeping the ball dry will be crucial at TPC Sawgrass and that he is excited about showing what he can do at the back end of the course.
“It’s a course where it’s obvious what you have to do [keeping the ball dry] but you still have to pull it off,” Aberg said.
“You have to hit the right shots at the right time. I love the finish: 16, 17, 18.
“You have to step up and hit golf shots all the way in.”
